How Helpful is Liposuction to get rid of cellulite?

Liposuction is a treatment by which fat cells are surgically removed.   Many people think that liposuction will reduce cellulite.  Liposuction does not remove fat from the areas where cellulite lies, therefore it does not get rid of cellulite.  In fact, because liposuction leaves lax skin, cellulite can be more apparent than before.

Of course the treatment should only be preformed in a medical facility by a licensed, board-certified surgeon. General anesthesia is necessary as liposuction is a long and expensive procedure. Most patients complain of bruises and considerable pain afterwards.A few technical variants of liposuction are called “Lipojet” and “Liposculpture”.

Despite its potential risks and complications, liposuction remains popular because of long-lasting and often dramatic results. Nonetheless, after surgery a layer of loose skin might appear, due to a lack of elasticity in the skin from age or “stretching”, which will have to be taken care of in a follow-up procedure. Moreover, although liposuction is very successful to help individuals appear to have undergone a major weight loss, it does not always diminish the appearance of cellulite in the top layer of the skin.
